All Is Calm

Surprisingly, it is calm even though I am in a flurry of shopping, wrapping, decorating and baking! I love this time of year and it is going by too, too fast.

My first completed ornament of the year is this sweet design from Little by Little.  I've always liked it and it was a fun stitch.

My other Christmas project is started and probably won't be finished this year. I love the color of this thread. It feels Christmas-y to me and is nice to work with on chilly nights.

Lakeside Linen, Vintage Light Examplar, 40 count
Gloriana silk, Schoolhouse Red

Little Miss Miriam is finished and ready to be framed. I was a little sad to finish stitching her because I loved the spirit of the sampler and enjoyed working with these colors.

My newest start is (finally!) Isabella Johnstone from the Summer 2010 issue of SANQ.  I absolutely love the linen I am using. It's a gorgeous color and the picture just doesn't do it justice at all. It's dyed by Jan of  Tree of Life Samplings and is called Almond Creme

Although the leaves are now almost gone from our trees, I wanted to share this picture I took at the end of November. This is the view from my study window and if I'm at my desk working I can look down our driveway. I love this view because it changes often and I can just see a few of the pink rosebushes and our crepe myrtle we planted earlier this year.

Miss Kitty loves the front porch, too. She keeps watch for anything that moves from her command post.

When she's had enough of the view from the front porch, she will often grace me with her presence in my study and take a little nap on the loveseat.

Thank you for visiting today. I hope you all  have a great weekend!

Lovely finishes and starts. If I had that view from my work room, I'm not sure if I would accomplish much;) Sweet kitty. Happy Weekend to you!

Miriam is fantastic! I love the colors in her, no wonder you were sad to be done with her stitching. But she is gorgeous finished! I love your All is Calm ornament too. That one's going to be first on my list to stitch in 2012. I'm loving that Schoolhouse Red you're using for Quaker Christmas too - so fun!!

Congratulations on the finishes!!! I am hoping to get to Miriam this coming year--I hope, I hope! I'm going to have to keep pulling up your picture to look at it. Your All is Calm looks great, too--I need to get stitching that. I love Little by Little's designs. Schoolhouse Red is such a great color--it's going to make such a beautiful holiday time sampler. Love the pics of Miss Kitty and your view--gorgeous! I love the photo of her surveying her kingdom. :)

PS--the Almond Creme for Isabella looks amazing--it's going to be so antique-y looking when done!

I love the soft colors in Miriam Chilvers, and I can understand why it was a bittersweet finish. Your ornament finish is adorable, and I love both of the new starts.

What beautiful choices to stitch. I'm new to your blog...an old stitcher for many years, I'm now reading and reviewing books for the most part, but I keep my fingers twinned in the threads once in a while! :] I'll be back to see what you're doing. I followed you over from my dear friend, Nicole's page.
